The New Zealand Defence Force (NZDF), in conjunction with Australian authorities, are monitoring a People's Liberation Army - Navy (PLA-N) Task Group in the Tasman Sea, in international waters about 350 nautical miles northeast of Australia's Bass Strait.

The Chinese naval Task Group of three ships was this morning holding position at around 280 nautical miles east of Tasmania, outside Australia's EEZ.
The New Zealand Defence Force (NZDF) continues to use ships and aircraft to monitor the Task Group, in close coordination with the Australian Defence Force.
The NZDF assets being used to monitor the Task Group are the Anzac frigate HMNZS Te Kaha and Royal New Zealand Air Force P-8A Poseidon flights.
