
PH Navy's Ramon Alcaraz joins 'Komodo' int'l fleet review

MANILA -- The Philippine Navy (PN) on Monday said its offshore patrol vessel, BRP Ramon Alcaraz (PS-16), took part in the International Fleet Review (IFR), which was among the events of Indonesia's 5th Multilateral Naval Exercise "Komodo" (MNEK).
The opening ceremonies of the naval exercise took place at the Port of Benoa in Bali on Sunday. Thirty-one navies are participating in the event.
"Following the opening ceremony, the PN took part in the prestigious IFR, a showcase of naval presence and capability among participating countries. BRP Ramon Alcaraz proudly represented the Philippines in the naval formation, demonstrating the PN's commitment to regional security, interoperability, and strengthening naval diplomacy with allied and partner nations," the Navy said.
The IFR featured an impressive display of naval assets that symbolizes the collective resolve of nations in safeguarding maritime interests.
The PN delegation was headed by Philippine Fleet commander Rear Admiral Joe Anthony Orbe, accompanied by Philippine defense and armed forces attaché Col. Emerson Delos Santos and Naval Task Group 84 commander Capt. Malone Agudelo.
"To cap off the day's engagements, the PN delegation attended the welcome dinner hosted at the Official Residence of the Governor of Bali, His Excellency I Wayan Koster. The event provided a platform for senior naval leaders to foster camaraderie, engage in high-level discussions, and enhance international cooperation in maritime security," the PN said.
The Medical Civic Action Program is scheduled Monday aboard the KRI dr. Wahidin Sudiro Husodo-991 (KRI WSH-991), docked at Tanah Ampo Pier, Karangasem District, according to Antara News.
It is a community service program that will provide comprehensive health and dental checks, mass circumcisions, blood donations, and minor medical surgeries,
"The MNEK also includes an environmental conservation and coastal abrasion prevention program, featuring mangrove tree planting in the I Gusti Ngurah Rai Forest Park Area, the release of turtle hatchlings at Peninsula Beach, Nusa Dua, Bali, and a beach cleanup at Mertasari Sanur Beach," Antara News reported.
