D. Šakalienė to discuss situation in Ukraine with K. Kellogg at the Munich Security Conference

On February 14-15 Minister of National Defence attends the Munich Security Conference. D. Šakalienė will meet with senior political, military and defence industry y representatives and will join a side event on the security situation of Lithuania and the whole region, collective defence, war in Ukraine, importance of strengthening defence industry, and other topics.

At the Townhall event on "Peace Through Strength: Plan for Ukraine" Minister of National Defence D. Šakalienė will speak on the security of Ukraine beside Special Presidential Envoy for Russia and Ukraine Keith Kellogg, as well as representatives of the United Kingdom, Poland and Ukraine.

A Lithuanian Minister of National Defence joins such a high level panel at the Munich Security Conference for the first time Lietuvos. Lithuania's key message at the Conference generally and at the Townhall panel is the same: if we want real peace, it must come through strength.

Aside from the Townhall, Minister of National Defence will attend a German Defence Industry Conference on "Strengthening Defence Industry". "The European defence industry has to be reorient from peacetime to wartime capacity. Russia produces more military equipment in a month than the European nations in two years. We have no time to lose," says Minister D. Šakalienė.

Another crucial debate initiated by the Federal Ministry of Defence will concern personnel selection across Europe, in particular, strengthening the role of women n uncertain times. The Minister of National Defence will present the action Lithuania takes to attract people to the Armed Forces and the challenges we face.

In Munich, Minister will see business and industry representatives: CEO of Rheinmetall, Vice President of Amazon Web Services, CEO of SAAB. The meetings will address defence industry development and cooperation.

Minister's agenda also includes bilateral meetings with Minister of Defence of Armenia Suren Papikyan, Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Defense Kazuhiro Kobayashi, Minister of Defence of Croatia Ivan Anušič, Deputy Prime Minister of Ireland), Minister for Foreign Affairs, Trade and Minister for Defence Simon Harris and Minister of Defence of Belgium Theo Francken.

The Munich Security Conference is as annual top level key European forum which brings together leaders of the area of defence discuss the most pressing foreign policy and security challenges.
