MANILA -- The Philippine Navy (PN) on Tuesday said it welcomes all offers coming from its allies to develop its warfighting capabilities.
PN spokesperson Capt. John Percie Alcos made this remark in response to the Royal Canadian Navy's (RCN) offer to provide submarine training to Filipino crew, following the visit of its contingent to the Navy headquarters at Roxas Boulevard, Manila on Feb. 7.
"The PN welcomes all offers of assistance from other like-minded navies in developing all our warfighting capabilities across all the four dimensions of warfare," he told the Philippine News Agency, referring to sea, air, land and electronic warfare.
Aside from this, Alcos said the PN welcomes assistance in improving its expertise in intelligence, reconnaissance, and surveillance.
"This is in line with our continued pursuit to be a modern Navy that is capable of securing the state and contributing to regional peace," he added.
Amphibious landing exercise
Meanwhile, the Philippine Marine Corps' 3rd Marine Brigade, along with Naval Forces West (NFW), conducted on Monday an amphibious landing exercise at Long Beach, Barangay New Agutaya in San Vicente, Palawan.
This exercise aimed to enhance interoperability and sustain the operational readiness of the 3rd Marine Brigade and NFW units.
"The exercise involved amphibious landing with movement utilizing boats from the Combat Support Brigade, supported by joint forces from the Naval Special Operations Unit (NAVSOU), Joint Special Operations Unit 1 and NCEB (Naval Combat Engineering Brigade) who performed beach clearing and breaching operations while 61st Force Recon Company as the assaulting force," 3rd Marine Brigade spokesperson Capt. Marissa Meriel said.
After a successful landing, the landing force skillfully maneuvered toward their designated objectives, breached obstacles and engaged in target suppression through close-quarter battle operations. (PNA)
