  • UN chief to chair international meeting on Libya next week UN News Centre 08 Apr 2011 -- Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon will travel to Egypt next week to chair a meeting of regional organizations convened in an effort to ensure continued coordination of the international response to the crisis in Libya, his spokesperson said today.

  • PHILIPPINES: Moves to end use of child soldiers, but problem persists IRIN 08 Apr 2011 -- The Philippines has made significant strides in stamping out the use of children as combatants by insurgent groups, but the problem continues, say officials.
  • Death of Chechen militant leader Umarov not confirmed RIA Novosti 08 Apr 2011 -- Scientists carrying out DNA tests on the bodies of militants killed in a recent anti-terrorist operation say they have not yet found any evidence that Chechen warlord Doku Umarov was killed, a special services source said on Friday.
