- Boeing Successful in Second Laser JDAM Moving Target Test Boeing 18 Sep 2006 -- The Boeing Company [NYSE: BA] successfully completed its Laser Joint Direct Attack Munition (LJDAM) weapon system flight test program on Sept. 15 with engagement of a target moving at 40 mph.
- EADS obtains contract for the design and development of Spanish Future Soldier (COMFUT) EADS 18 Sep 2006 -- EADS Defence & Security Systems Spain (DS) has been awarded by the Spanish Ministry of Defence the design and development phase of the “Combatiente Futuro” (COMFUT) research and development programme. The Spanish company, through its Defence and Communications Systems business unit, will design, develop and provide the Spanish Army with an operative section prototype – this section will be formed by 36 soldiers, divided into three squads. Beginning this year and ending in 2009, this phase of the programme will last three years. The Spanish Ministry of Defence could acquire up to 7.000 units in the future.
- Pratt & Whitney F135 Completes Final Flight Clearance Review, Paving the Way for the Lightning II First Flight Pratt & Whitney 18 Sep 2006 -- Pratt & Whitney today announced the F135 engine has cleared its third and final flight clearance review conducted by the F-35 Lightning II Joint Program Office. - TEAMSAIC Selected For NATO Active Layered Theater Ballistic Missile Defense Systems Engineering And Integration Support Contract SAIC 18 Sep 2006 -- Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) announced today TEAMSAIC was selected to negotiate a firm fixed-price contract to support the integration of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Active Layered Theater Ballistic Missile Defense (ALTBMD). The contract will establish a six-year period of performance with an estimated value of $95 million. Most of the work will be performed in the Netherlands.
- Successful Safety Testing of GPS-Guided Artillery Projectile Puts Raytheon-BAE Systems Bofors' Excalibur Closer to Fielding Raytheon 18 Sep 2006 -- The Raytheon Missile Systems and BAE Systems Bofors' Excalibur team successfully concluded safety testing of the Excalibur global positioning system-guided 155 mm artillery projectile. Excalibur is the next-generation family of projectiles for U.S. Army and Marine Corps artillery.
