  • AgustaWestland Selects BAE Systems to Control First Fully Electronic Helicopter Fly-By-Wire System BAE Systems 04 May 2006 -- As part of its Helicopter Electro Actuation Technology (HEAT) program for the U.K. Royal Navys EH101 Merlin helicopter fleet, AgustaWestland has awarded a 18.5 million ($32 million U.S.) contract to BAE Systems for the development of the digital flight control computer. HEAT will be the first electromechanical fly-by-wire system installed on a helicopter.

The total value of the contract, if all options are exercised, is $11.3 million.   • General Dynamics’ GeoWorxTM Software Product is First Commercial Software Package to Achieve NITF Registration for Controlled Image Base® General Dynamics 04 May 2006 -- The Joint Interoperability Test Command (Fort Huachuca, Ariz.) has registered GeoWorxTM software, produced by General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems, for compliance with Controlled Image Base® (CIB®) specifications as determined by the National Imagery Transmission Format Standards for exchange, storage and transmission of digital-imagery products. This is the first time a commercially available software package has been registered for compliance with CIB.
