  • MNF precision strike targets anti-Iraqi force trainers MNF-I/MNC-I 02 Oct 2004 -- At about 6 p.m., Oct. 2, Multi-National Force-Iraq conducted a precision strike against a building where15 to 20 anti-Iraqi force personnel were conducting military-style training on the outskirts of Fallujah.
  • Insurgents blow up Iraqi infrastructure MNF-I/MNC-I 02 Oct 2004 -- At approximately 11:30 a.m. on Oct. 1, a Multi-National Force-Iraq patrol witnessed an explosion on the second floor of the Ramadi Agricultural Center. Reports from the patrol noticed one man hanging around the building. The building exploded as soon as he left.

  • UNHCR/CHAD VOA 02 Oct 2004 -- The United Nations refugee agency is reporting growing violence against Sudanese refugees in and around camps in eastern Chad. The agency says steps are being taken to improve security for refugees who have fled the conflict in Darfur.
  • ISRAEL / PALESTINIANS VOA 02 Oct 2004 -- Israel's military offensive continues in Gaza, despite an appeal from Palestinian Prime Minister Ahmed Qureia for calm. More than 45 Palestinians and five Israelis have been killed in four days of bloodshed. And militants imposed a commercial strike in Gaza.
  • CONGO/PEACEKEEPERS VOA 02 Oct 2004 -- The U.N. Security Council decision to increase the number of peacekeepers in the Democratic Republic of Congo is being welcomed by analysts as an opportunity to implement a shaky peace. But they caution the job will not be easy.
