Coast Guard admiral visits PSU 309 as they prepare to deploy

GREAT LAKES - Port Security Unit (PSU 309) is hosting a media availability day, Tuesday Feb. 11 between 10-11 a.m. Rear Admiral Ronald Silva, Commander of the Ninth Coast Guard District (the Great Lakes), will visit PSU 309 as the unit prepares to deploy in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

The 117 members of PSU 309 have been at the unit since Wednesday, Feb. 5. They have been finalizing training, receiving inoculations, and packing up equipment. PSU 309 will soon be deployed overseas in support of the continuing war on terrorism.

PSU 309 is located at building 360 in the Erie Industrial Park, Port Clinton, Ohio.

Directions: From the east, take I-90 west to the I-90/Hwy 2 split, take Hwy 2 west to Port Clinton. The PSU is located on the Erie Industrial Park, just west of Camp Perry. Turn right into the industrial park and follow the signs to the PSU, it is located next to the big red water tower.

From the west, take I-90 east to exit 81. Follow Hwy 51 north to Hwy 105, take a right on Hwy 105. Take Hwy 105/163 to Hwy 2. Turn left on Hwy 2 heading west to Camp Perry. The PSU is located on the Erie Industrial Park, just west of Camp Perry. Turn right into the industrial park and follow the signs to the PSU, it is located next to the big red water tower.
