- ISRAEL/PALESTINIANS VOA 02 Dec. 2001-- Palestinian Authority President Yasser Arafat has announced a state of emergency in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, following a series of terrorist attacks that have left at least 25 Israelis dead. The move paves the way for the Palestinian security forces to use tough new measures to rein in Islamic militant groups, which have carried out a campaign of suicide bombings.
- FOOD/AFGHAN SURVEY VOA 02 Dec. 2001-- The U-N World Food Program is beginning a house-to-house survey in the Afghan capital, Kabul, to assess needs and register people for food aid.
