- ATK Awarded Contracts Worth $15 Million to Produce Medium-Caliber Training Ammunition; Production Option Could Increase Total Value to $30 Million ATK 09 Apr 2001 -- ATK (NYSE: ATK) (Alliant Techsystems) said it has been awarded two contracts with a combined value of $15 million from the U.S. Army Operations Support Command, Rock Island, Ill., to produce medium-caliber training ammunition for use by tactical aircraft. The contracts are:
- Joint Helmet-Mounted Cueing System Flies on Boeing Super Hornet Boeing 09 Apr 2001 -- U.S. Navy recently began F/A-18E/F Super Hornet flight testing of the Joint Helmet-Mounted Cueing System (JHMCS), technology that allows airplane crews to aim weapons and sensors by looking at targets.
- USAF Awards GE $601 Million Contract For J85 Upgrade Kits GE Aviation 09 Apr 2001 -- The U.S. Air Force (USAF) has awarded a 10-year, $601 million contract to GE Aircraft Engines (GEAE) to provide hardware upgrade kits for 1,202 J85-5 engines powering the USAF fleet of 509 T-38 "Talon" supersonic jet trainers.
- Lockheed Martin Awarded $72 Million Fixed Surveillance Systems Contract Lockheed Martin 09 Apr 2001 -- Lockheed Martin Naval Electronics & Surveillance Systems (NE&SS)-Undersea Systems has been awarded a $72 million contract to provide engineering services for fixed surveillance systems in support of the U.S. Navy Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command (SPAWAR), San Diego, California.
- Lockheed Martin JSF Team Completes Durability Tests for STOVL Propulsion System Lockheed Martin 09 Apr 2001 -- The Lockheed Martin Joint Strike Fighter propulsion team has completed accelerated mission testing (AMT) for the X-35B demonstrator's short-takeoff/vertical landing propulsion system - one of the final steps before full flight certification.
- Northrop Grumman Delivers IWO JIMA (LHD 7) to U.S. Navy Northrop Grumman 09 Apr 2001 -- The seventh ship in the USS WASP Class of multipurpose amphibious assault ships, IWO JIMA (LHD 7), was successfully delivered on schedule to the U.S. Navy by Litton Ingalls Shipbuilding, a subsidiary of Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC), during a ceremony on April 6 at the shipyard.
- X-35B STVOL Engine Completes Critical Test Pratt & Whitney 09 Apr 2001 -- Pratt & Whitney has completed Accelerated Mission Testing (AMT) of the Lockheed Martin X-35B aircraft's Short Takeoff and Vertical Landing (STOVL) JSF119-611 propulsion system, clearing the way for full STOVL flight clearance.
- Northrop Grumman Delivers Infrared Focal Plane Assembly for SBIRS High Northrop Grumman 09 Apr 2001 -- Northrop Grumman Corporation's (NYSE:NOC) Electronic Sensors and Systems Sector (ES3) has delivered the first qualification focal plane assembly (FPA) for integration in the U.S. Air Force's Space-Based Infrared Systems High (SBIRS High) program.
