
ATK Awarded Contracts Worth $15 Million to Produce Medium-Caliber Training Ammunition; Production Option Could Increase Total Value to $30 Million

ATK (NYSE: ATK) (Alliant Techsystems) said it has been awarded two contracts with a combined value of $15 million from the U.S. Army Operations Support Command, Rock Island, Ill., to produce medium-caliber training ammunition for use by tactical aircraft. The contracts are:
-- An $8 million award to manufacture 30mm GAU-8/A target practice ammunition for use by the U.S. Air Force's A-10 "Warthog" aircraft. Deliveries are scheduled to run through August 2002. The contract includes a production option valued at $15 million.
-- A $7 million award to produce 20mm PGU-27 A/B target practice ammunition for use by U.S. Air Force and U.S. Navy aircraft. Deliveries under the contract will continue through October 2002.
ATK Ammunition Systems Company, New Brighton, Minn., will manage both contracts.
"These contracts reinforce ATK's position as a total ammunition supplier to the U.S. government and its allies," said Mike McCann, president, ATK Ammunition Systems Company. "We are proud of the role our training ammunition is playing in helping to maintain our nation's military readiness."
McCann said ATK has delivered more than 120 million rounds of medium-caliber ammunition and over two million rounds of tank ammunition to the U.S. government and allied and friendly nations.
