  • CHECHNYA FIGHTING Voice of America 10 October 1999 -- Russian troops are pressing ahead with their campaign against the breakaway Chechen republic, targetting what they say are Islamic militants. But Chechen President Aslan Maskhadov says most of the victims have been civilians.
  • CHECHNYA / MASKHADOV Voice of America 10 October 1999 -- Chechnya's President, Aslan Maskhadov, says full-scale war is underway in the breakaway region with Russian air and ground forces advancing from three directions.
