Forward Operating Base Lonestar

Construction on Forward Operating Base Lonestar on July 6th, 2007. Sky Soldiers from the 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team were building the base on a hilltop near Pachir Wa Agam in the Nangarhar Province. FOB Lonestar overlooks the foothills of Tora Bora where many Taliban and Al Qaida insurgents are believed to regularly cross. Most of the materials for the new construction had to be brought in from the Jalalabad PRT. As of July 11th, 2007 the FOB had some basic security barriers set up in the form of triple stand wire, two tents storing supplies, a two story watch tower and temporary showers and latrines.
