Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron-41 [MALS-41]
Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron-41 (MALS-41) was originally designated as Headquarters and Maintenance Squadron (H&MS)-41 and was activated as an administrative squadron for Marine Base Defense Group-41 at MCAS El Toro, California on 1 January 1943. The Squadron was reassigned to Marine Aircraft Group 41 in November 1944 and deactivated on 31 October 1945.
H&MS-41 was reactivated on 1 July 1962 at NAS Dallas, Texas and assigned to Marine Aircraft Group 41, U.S. Marine Corps Reserve. The squadron was reassigned in February 1965 to the 4th Marine Aircraft Wing, Fleet Marine Force, U.S. Marine Corps Reserve.
In January 1989 the squadron was redesignated as Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron (MALS)-41. The squadron provides maintenance and logistical support for Marine Fighter Attack Squadron (VMFA-112) and Marine Transport and Refueling Squadron (VMGR)-234. MALS-41's honors include the World War II Victory Streamer, the American Campaign Streamer, and the Navy Unit Commendation Streamer (1982-1984).
In October of 1996, MALS-41 moved to NAS JRB Fort Worth Texas and has integrated successfully with the Navy, and Air Force Commands Stationed there. MALS-41 has been nominated as MALS-41 of the year by 4th (Marine Aircraft Wing)MAW.
The mission of MALS-41 is to fully support all tenant and visiting squadrons and to be always ready to deploy within 72 hours.
