Force Service Support Group (FSSG)
There are three Force Service Support Groups (FSSG's) in the active force and one in the Reserve. A FSSG is the largest combat service support organization of a MEF. All FSSG units are designated with Arabic numerals and will have the same numeric designation of the MAGTF they support. Illustrations of combat service support unit designations are provided below:
- FSSG - 2d Force Service Support Group, II MEF (2d FSSG, II MEF)
- BSSG - Brigade Service Support Group - 1, 1st MEB (BSSG-1, 1st MEB)
- MSSG - MEU Service Support Group - 11, 11th MEU (SOC) (MSSG-11, 11th MEU (SOC))
The Marine Wing Support Group [MWSG] provides all essential ground support requirements to aid designated fixed- or rotary-wing components of a Marine FOB. The MWSG typically includes a headquarters and headquarters squadron (H&HS), two MWSSs (fixed wing), and two MWSSs (rotary wing). The group is organized to provide motor transport, engineering services, and organizational maintenance (motor transport and engineering) for units of the MAW. The MWSG is organized and equipped for employment as an integral unit in support of the MAW. It is structured to provide deployable elements in support of the garrison or deployed posture of the MAW.
