934th Airlift Wing [934th AW]
The 934th Airlift Wing was originally established as the 934th Troop Carrier Group, Medium, and activated on 15 January 1963 and assigned to Continental Air Command. It was organized in the Reserve on 11 February 1963 at Minneapolis-St Paul International Airport (later, Minneapolis-St Paul IAP-Air Reserve Station), MN. Flying the C-119, the unit was at that point assigned to the 440th Troop Carrier Wing, Medium (later, 440th Tactical Airlift Wing).
It was redesignated as the 934th Tactical Airlift Group on 1 July 1967.
The 934th converted to the C-130 aircraft in 1970.
A succession of reassignments followed with the unit being reassigned to the 44d Tactical Airlift Wing(1 April 1978); to the 433rd Tactical Airlift Wing(1 October 1981); the 302d Tactical Airlift Wing(1 April 1985); and the 403rd Tactical Airlift Wing (later, 403rd Airlift Wing) on 31 December 1987.
The 934th was redesignated as the 934th Airlift Group on 1 February 1992 before being reassigned to the 302d Airlift Wing, on 1 August 1992. That same year, the 934th provided worldwide airlift of passengers and cargo including deployment of aircraft and crews to support Provide Promise the airlifting of humanitarian supplies to Sarajevo and Zagreb, Bosnia-Herzegovina.
It was redesignated as the 934th Airlift Wing on 1 October 1994 and reassigned to the Tenth Air Force.
The 934th AW was reassigned to Twenty-Second Air Force on 1 April 1997.
