534th TRS - Verification and Checkout Equipment [534th TRS - VACE]

The 532d Training Squadron, Verification and Checkout Equipment training section at Vandenberg AFB, CA, teaches theory, repair, testing, calibration, and troubleshooting of the AN/GSM-263 weapon test system, with considerable emphasis in troubleshooting. This system includes the electronic system test set (ESTS), missile radar altimeter test assembly (MRATA), remote sensing control assembly (RSCA), and the component cooling unit (CCU). The course also covers operation and theory training in various types of test measurement and diagnostic equipment (TMDE).

The school produces 16 VACE technicians a year with an average class duration of 45 days of instruction during which students complete seven blocks of lecture and laboratory instruction. When students complete this course they fulfill the VACE course requirement for the 809 special experience identifier. As of mid-2001, the VACE training staff consisted of three highly qualified instructors with an average of 13.6 years field experience.
