342nd Training Squadron [342nd TRS]
The mission of the 342nd Training Squadron is to provide pararescue, combat control, survival evasion resistance escape instructor, tactical air control party, and explosive ordnance disposal recruitment, screening, and training in support of usaf special tactics units.
The unit is also tasked with providing advanced security forces training focusing on ground combat skills, weapons systems security, law enforcement, and combat arms as well as with delivering marksmanship training to basic military training recruits.
The 342nd TRS is composed of two flights: the Security Forces Advanced Education Flight and the Security Forces Combat Weapons Flight.
The Security Forces Advanced Education Flight provides advanced classes in all aspects of the Security Forces training in support of Department of Defense and international customers.
The Security Forces Combat Weapons Flight provides Basic Military Trainees with familiarization and qualification training in the M16A2 rifle. The 81mm mortar, MK-19 machine gun and .50 caliber rifle are taught at the Heavy Weapons school on Lackland AFB for selected Non-commissioned officers.
