187th Airlift Squadron [187th AS]

In February 1999, the 187th began flying operational missions between Cheyenne and Peterson Field AFB, Colorado. It is the first C-130 unit -- active, guard, orreserve -- to fly regularly scheduled operational missions and the first time this unit has flown operational missions in more than 17 years. The missions are flown every other week, moving patients from Cheyenne to Colorado Springs and back. In addition, the 187th participated in the first AEF rotations, filling in shortfalls for other Air National Guard, Air Force Reserve and active duty units. Deployments were to Germany, Macedonia, Kosovo and Kuwait.
