Tactical Support Center, Whidbey Island

Naval Computer and Telecommunication Station, Tactical Support Center Detachment Whidbey Island, (NAVCOMTELSTA TSCOMM DET WHIDBEY) is a detachment of Naval Computer and Telecommunications Station Puget Sound located at Bangor, Washington. NAVCOMTELSTA TSCOMM DET Whidbey is comprised of a transmitter site located at Rocky Point, a receiver site located at Polnell Point, and an Ashore Sector Warfare Support Communication TSCOMM which is a Tactical Communications Center (TCOMM) within the Tactical Support Center (TSC) located in BLDG 2771 on NAS Whidbey. We provide operational, tactical, and strategic communications support throughout the Northwestern United States and Eastern Pacific Ocean for COMPATWING TEN, VP-1, VP-40, VP-46, VP-69, and VQ-1. There are 27 military assigned. The TSCOMM facility operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The US Navy has 16 Tactical Support Centers world-wide which support maritime patrol aviation forces deployed overseas and at homeports within the United States. The TSC is a node of the Navy Command and Control System (NCCS) Ashore Network. A TSC is equipped to provide Naval maritime sector commanders ashore with command, control, communications, and intelligence support for directing and supporting forces under their command. TSC's have state of the art equipment to assist in mission planning, tactical aircrew briefing, flight following, and post flight mission data analysis for aircrews flying a variety of maritime patrol aircraft. US Navy TSCs are equipped to support the following types of aircraft: P-3C Orions, S-3B Vikings, Canadian CP-140 Auroras, and the British NIMROD.
