DDG-5 Claude V. Ricketts

USS Claude V. Ricketts (DDG-5), a Charles F. Adams Class Guided Missile Destroyer, was orginally named Biddle (DD-955). On 18 May 1959, the ship was laid down as DDG-5 by the New York Shipbuilding Corporation at Camden, New Jersey. Ricketts was launched 4 June 1960 and commissioned on 5 May 1962.

On 28 June 1964, Biddle was redesignated as Claude V. Ricketts in honor of the late Admiral Claude V. Ricketts.

On 31 October 1989, Claude V. Ricketts was decomissioned and stricken from the Naval Vessel Register on 1 June 1990. She was sold on 15 April 1994 for scrap. The scrap contract, however, was canceled on 1 October 1996 and the ship was resold on 18 December 2001 to Metro Machine Incorporated, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
