BB-67 Montana
The name MONTANA was assigned to BB-67 on 28 December 1940; but construction of the MONTANA-class battleship by Philadelphia Navy Yard, Philadelphia, Pa., was canceled 21 July 1943, before her keel was laid.
[Of the original 48 states, Montana has never had an active duty battleship named after that state. (Alaska and Hawaii were territories during the days of battleship building and each had a "Large Cruiser", also called "battle-cruiser" named for them.]
