8th Military Information Support Operations Group (Airborne) (Provisional)

The 8th Military Information Support Operations Group (Airborne) (Provisional) was activated at Fort Bragg, North Carolina on 26 August 2011 as part of the restructuring of military information support operations (MISO) within the US Army Special Operations Command. The Group would help provide MISO support to the geographic combatant commanders and special operations task forces, and US ambassadors.

At the time of its activation, the 8th Military Information Support Operations Group (Airborne) (Provisional) took over responsibility for the 1st, 5th, and 9th Military Information Support Operations Battalions, which had previously been assigned to the 4th Military Information Support Operations Group (Airborne). The 1st and 5th Military Information Support Operations Battalions were regional battalions focused toward the US Southern Command (SOUTHCOM) and US Pacific Command (PACOM) areas of responsibility respectively. The 9th Military Information Support Operations Battalion was in charge of all tactical MISO operations worldwide.
