1st Brigade, 85th Division (Training Support)

1st Brigade, 85th Division (Training Support), provides evaluated simulations exercises to RC Battalion and Brigade/ Group Headquarters. It provides training assistance, support, and evaluation to priority RC Units and all other units within capabilities, and synchronizes training support within area of responsibility in order to enhance individual and unit readiness to meet directed mobilization and/or wartime requirements. On order, the Brigade activates or augments Mobilization Assistance Teams (MAT) to assist installation commanders in post-mobilization training and validation of mobililzed units for deployment. It provides command and control of subordinate units.

Battle Projection Group (BPG), 1st Bde (BCST), 85th Div (TS) at Chicago, Illinois is a computerized war-gaming group that works with a wide variety of Army Reserve and Army National Guard soldiers and units. Unit members are trained on various simulations and support a wide variety of exercises. Exercise simulation support is conducted indoors at Mid-West locations throughout the year. A familiarity with computers is desirable but not necessary; however, applicants should be well grounded in their branch or MOS.

1st Brigade, 85th Division (Training Support) was constituted 5 August 1917 in the National Army as Headquarters Troop, 85th Division. Organized in September 1917 at Camp Custer, Michigan. Demobilized in April 1919 at Camp Custer, Michigan. Reconstituted 24 June 1921 in the Organized Reserves as Headquarters Company, 85th Division. Organized 18 October 1922 at Detroit, Michigan. Reorganized and redesignated 31 March 1942 as Headquarters and Military Police Company (less Military Police Platoon), 85th Division. Ordered into active military service 15 May 1942 and reorganized at Camp Shelby, Mississippi. Redesignated 1 August 1942 as Headquarters Company, 85th Infantry Division. Disbanded 25 August 1945 at Camp Patrick Henry, Virginia. Reconstituted 6 November 1946 in the Organized Reserves as Headquarters Company, 85th Infantry Division. Activated 19 February 1947 at Chicago, Illinois. Location changed 10 July 1947 to Springfield, Illinois. Organized Reserves redesignated 25 March 1948 as the Organized Reserve Corps; redesignated 9 July 1952 as the Army Reserve. Location changed 15 January 1953 to Chicago, Illinois. Disbanded 1 June 1959 at Chicago, Illinois

Reconstituted 24 November 1967 in the Army Reserve as Headquarters, 1st Brigade, 85th Division (Training). Activated 31 January 1968 at Waukegan, Illinois. Location changed 15 December 1992 to Fort Sheridan, Illinois. Reorganized and redesignated 1 October 1993 as Headquarters, 1st Brigade, 85th Division (Exercise). Reorganized and redesignated 17 October 1999 as Headquarters, 1st Brigade, 85th Division (Training Support).
