641st Medical Battalion (Air Ambulance)
The 641st Medical Battalion was originally organized and Federally recognized on 15 September 1971 in the Oregon Army National Guard at Portland as the 1042d Medical Detachment. It converted and was redesignated on 1 June 1972 as the 1042d Aviation Company; its location concurrently changed to Salem.
The unit converted and was redesignated on 1 April 1973 as the 1042d Military Intelligence Company. It was reorganized and redesignated on 1 September 1982 as Headquarters, Headquarters and Service Company, 641st Medical Battalion (Company A organized and was Federally recognized 11 September 1982 at Salem).
The battalion converted and was redesignated on 1 September 1995 as Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment, 641st Medical Battalion.
The 641st provided support to the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City.
