628th Military Intelligence Battalion
The mission of 628th Military Intelligence Battalion is to provide tactical intelligence through asset and collection management, all source intelligence production, intelligence electronic warfare technical control, and intelligence and targeting data dissemination in support of the 28th Infantry Division (Mechanized)
The 628th Military Intelligence Battalion was formed in September 1996 and is a part of the 28th Infantry Division (Mechanized) Pennsylvania National Guard. The 628th MI Bn is currently headquartered with the 28th ID(M) in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
The 628th MI BN provides the 28th ID(M) with vital combat information and intelligence data that the Division must have in order to successfully execute its warfighting mission on any future battlefield.
The 628th MI Bn operates under an doctrine that calls for force projection and split base operations. Consequently, the unit transitioned in TY-00 to an MTOE which revolves around the Analysis Control Element ("ACE") which is itself be organized around the All Source Analysis System ("ASAS"), a component of the Army's Battle Command System. The ASAS is an electronic distributed information system designed to help a commander rapidly gather, record, analyze and relay the often huge amounts of information that comes streaming in from the modern battlefield. The ACE is the basis for the MI structure at Corps and Division levels.
