536th Forward Support Battalion

The Texas National Guard (B Company 536th Support Battalion, Killeen, Texas) is gave support to the Honduras Hurrican Emergency Relief Committee (HHERCO), a Non-Profit Organization formed by volunteers of Honduras and other members of the hispanic community with the sole objective of helping to collect donations for those victims affected by Hurricane Mitch in Central America.

A Texas Army National Guard soldier raised more than $21,000 for charity 14 March 1999 as he tried to beat his own 1996 world record of running 26 hours and 16 minutes continuously on a treadmill. Although he was about five hours short of meeting the record, Sgt. Richard D. Greenlee, a 40-year old light wheeled vehicle mechanic from Company A, 536th Forward Support Battalion, raised $1,000 for every hour of the run he completed. The money was pledged by Bally Total Fitness and went to the Charity Challenge Athletes Association, an organization dedicated to helping quadriplegic children get to the Special Olympics.
