515th Regiment (Regional Training Institute)
The distinctive unit insignia and the Coat of Arms for the unit were authorized on 2 January 1998. The Distinctive Unit Insignia depicts a Gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned: Or, an Avanyu Azure enflamed Gules, a bordure gyronny of eight of the second and Gules.
Attached below the shield a Blue scroll inscribed "ADELANTE" in Gold. The insignia's red, yellow and blue represent the combat arms. The Avanyu is a traditional Pueblo Indian symbol and refers to the unit's home location in New Mexico. The border indicates the unit's heritage and relationship with other New Mexico units. The motto translates to "Forward."
The coat of arms 's blazon shows Or, an Avanyu Azure enflamed Gules, a bordure gyronny of eight of the second and Gules and the crest, for regiments and separate battalions of the New Mexico Army National Guard, from a wreath Or and Azure, a coiled rattlesnake Proper. The symbolism of the shield is red, yellow and blue represent the combat arms. The Avanyu is a traditional Pueblo Indian symbol and refers to the unit's home location in New Mexico. The border indicates the unit's heritage and relationship to other New Mexico units.
