512th Engineer Battalion

The 512th Engineer Battalion HHD is located on Reading Rd in Cincinnati, Ohio. The 1193rd Panel Bridge Company is also located on Reading Rd in Cincinnati, Ohio. The 186th is located in Columbus, Ohio and the 5694th Fire Fighters are located in Mansfield, Ohio.

The 512th Engineer Battalion was organized and Federally recognized 15 September 1939 in the Ohio National Guard as Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment, 22d Reconnaissance Squadron, at Cincinnati. Reorganized and redesignated 1 November 1940 as Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment, 1st Squadron, 107th Cavalry. Inducted into Federal service 5 March 1941 at Cincinnati. Reorganized and redesignated 30 March 1942 as Headquarters Troop, 2d Squadron, 107th Cavalry. Reorganized and redesignated 1 January 1944 as Headquarters, Headquarters and Service Troop, 107th Cavalry Reconnaissance Squadron. Inactivated 16 November 1945 at Camp Bowie, Texas

Reorganized, redesignated, and Federally recognized 23 January 1947 as Headquarters and Headquarters Battery, 134th Field Artillery Battalion, an element of the 37th Infantry Division, at Cincinnati Ordered into active Federal service 15 January 1952 at Cincinnati. Headquarters and Headquarters Battery, 134th Field Artillery Battalion [NGUS] organized and Federally recognized 15 January 1954 at Cincinnati.

Released 15 June 1954 from active Federal service and reverted to State control. Concurrently, Federal recognition withdrawn from Headquarters and Headquarters Battery, 134th Field Artillery Battalion (NGUS). Reorganized and redesignated 1 September 1959 as Headquarters and Headquarters Battery, 2d Howitzer Battalion, 134th Artillery, an element of the 37th Infantry Division. Redesignated 1 April 1963 as Headquarters, Headquarters and Service Battery, 2d Battalion, 134th Artillery.

Converted and redesignated 15 February 1968 as Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment, 512th Engineer Battalion and relieved from assignment to the 37th Infantry Division
