"Eagle Dust Off"

The mission of the 50th Medical Company (Air Ambulance) is to provide direct medical evacuation support to the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), to conduct aerial resupply of Class VIII, and facilitate the movement of medical personnel, logistics and biologicals as directed.

Prior to the transition of the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) to the Army's modular organization, the 50th Medical Company (Air Ambulance) was attached to the 8-101 Aviation for administrative and logistical support, but was technically part of the 101st Airborne Division's Divisional Support Command (DISCOM). With the formation of the Division's two Aviation Brigades (101st and 159th), the 50th Medical Company was reassigned to the 159th Aviation Brigade.

The 50th Medical Company (Air Ambulance AA) was a separate company in the 101st Airborne Division's DISCOM under the command and control of the DISCOM commander. The unit received operational guidance from the Chief, Divisional Medical Operation Center (DMOC). The unit was equipped with UH-60 medevac aircraft with the primary mission of evacuating casualties from a forward collection point to a definite care facility. The unit also provided transportation for medical teams, deliver of blood products, biological, and medical supplies, as well as air crash rescue of downed aircrews.
