4th Finance Battalion

The unit was constituted in the Army of the United Sates on 1 November 1942 as the 4th Finance Section. The unit was activated on 30 November 1942 at Fort Benjamin Harrison, Indiana. Was redesignated as the 4th Finance Disbursing Section on 22 March 1943. On 16 October 1946 the unit was inactivated in France, and activated in Germany on 20 January 1947, and inactivated again in Germany on 20 July 1947.

On 20 April 1949, the unit was activated at Fort Gulick, Canal Zone, Panama, and inactivated, also at Fort Gulick, on 4 January 1950.

The unit was once again activated in Korea on 13 November 1950. The unit was allotted to the Regular Army on 25 October 1951. It was reorganized and redesignated as the 4th Finance Section on 25 May 1964. On 30 June 1971, the unit was inactivated in Korea.

Consolidated 1 May 1993 with the 4th Finance Battalion (active) (constituted 21 November 1971 in the Regular Army as the 4th Finance Company, assigned to the 4th Infantry Division, and activated at Fort Carson, Colorado; reorganized and redesignated 16 April 1987 as the 4th Finance Support Unit; concurrently relieved from the assignment to the 4th Infantry Division; reorganized and redesignated 16 October 1992 as the 4th Finance Battalion) and the consolidated designated as the 4th Finance Battalion.
