427th Brigade Support Battalion
427th Forward Support Battalion
The 427th Forward Support Battalion was established to perform support tasks for the 27th Infantry Brigade (Light) and later 27th Infantry Brigade (Enhanced) (Seperate). It was composed of three companies (A-C), which performed supply, maintenance, and medical support tasks respectively. Company A was based in Utica, New York; Company B was based in Rochester, New York; and Company C was based in Saratoga Springs, New York.
As part of the reorganization of the 27th Infantry Brigade into an Infantry Brigade Combat Team in 2006, the 427th Forward Support Battalion was redesignated the 427th Brigade Support Battalion. The Battalion is composed of a Headquarters and Headquarters Company, plus three directly attached Brigade Support Companies (A-C). Company A (Distribution) is based in Utica, New York; Company B (Maintenance) is based in Rochester, New York; and Company C (Medical) is based in Glenn Falls, New York.
In addition, the 427th has four Forward Support Companies (D-G). These are assigned to other battalions within the Brigade. Company D, based in Buffalo, New York is assigned to 2nd Battalion, 101st Cavalry (Reconaissance, Surveillance, and Target Aquisition). Company E, based in Schnectady, New York, is assigned to 2nd Battalion, 108 Infantry. Company F, based in Freeport, New York, is assigned to 1st Battalion, 69th Infantry. Lastly, Company G, based in Jamaica, New York, is assigned to the 1st Battalion, 258th Field Artillery.
