342nd Forward Support Battalion
"Support Not Words"
The 342nd Forward Support Battalion, 42nd Infantry (Rainbow) Division, is headquarted in Yonkers, NY, with elements spread throughout the state from Brooklyn to Buffalo.
The federal mission of the 342nd FSB is to provide combat service support to the 3rd Brigade, 42d Infantry Division. Its state mission is to answer the call of the governor and provide assistance to local communities and civil authorities in times of crisis.
The headquarters and headquarters detachment provides the overall planning, guidance and direction for all the efforts of the battalion. The unit's leaders work hand in hand with those of the 3rd Brigade and 42d Infantry Division to plan both wartime and peace time missions; whether it be preparing to conduct an annual training rotation, a warfighter exercise in places like Ft Leavenworth, Puerto Rico or Germany, or supporting the citizens of the state of New York like during the Ice Storm of 1998.
Company B (maintenance) provides direct support level repairs to nearly every piece of equipment you'll find within a combat brigade, from HMMWV's and M1 Tanks to missile systems, radios and other advanced electronics systems.
Company C (medical) provides combat health services to the men and women of the supported brigade.
