2nd Infantry Division Special Troops Battalion
The mission of the 2nd Infantry Division Special Troops Battalion is to provide combat support and combat service support to, and conducts survivability operations support of, the 2nd Infantry Division Command Posts during armistice, contingency, and combat operations to sustain Division command post operations and provides tactical information network support to 2nd Infantry Division to enable division command and control.
The 2nd Infantry Division Special Troops Battalion traces its lineage to when it was first constituted on 2 August 1943 in the Regular Army as Headquarters, Special Troops, 2nd Infantry Division and activated on 10 August 1943 at Camp McCoy, Wisconsin.
The unit was converted and redesignated on 15 October 1948 as the 2d Replacement Company and assigned to the 2d Infantry Division. It was reorganized and redesignated on 20 June 1957 as the 2nd Administration Company and again on 30 June 1972 as the 2nd Adjutant General Company before being inactivated on 29 September 1988 in Korea.
The unit was redesignated on 16 June 2005 as Special Troops Battalion, 2nd Infantry Division, and activated in Korea. It was formed from elements of the 102nd Military Intelligence Battalion and the 122nd Signal Battalion, which were concurrently inactivated.
