Special Troops Battalion, 116th Infantry Brigade Combat Team
The 116th Brigade Troops Battalion was orignally constituted in early 2006 as the elements of the 29th Infantry Division transformed to the US Army's modular force structure. As part of the transformation, various assets previously held at the division level, but habitually attached to brigades during operations were made organic to those brigades as full units or as part of organic special troops battalions. The Special Troops Battalion of the 116th Infantry Brigade Combat Team was stood up using elemnts of the 229th Engineer Battalion, which represented the engineers of A Company. The Unit was also stood up with a military intelligence company, as well as a signal company.
