240th Signal Battalion
The 240th Signal Battalion was constituted 28 December 1973 in the California Army National Guard and assigned to the 40th Infantry Division.
It was organized 13 January 1974 from existing units in the Los Angeles area. It's first Headquarters was at Long Beach.
Location of Headquarters changed on 24 September 1974 to Stanton; then on 1 March 1981 to Long Beach; and on 10 September 1996 it moved to Compton where it remains.
