230th Finance Battalion

The 230th Finance Battalion provides area support of the 4th Infantry Division, and services approximately 16,000 soldiers. The Battalion's mission is to ensure financial readiness of supported units prior to deployment. Deploy and conduct force protection operations in a combat environment while providing finance support for all units located in the battalion's area of responsibility.
The 30th Finance Section was constituted on 26 June 1942 in the U.S. Army and activated as Detachment 6055J on 12 August 1942, at Fort Benjamin Harrison, Indiana. In 1943, the detachment was redesignated as the 30th Finance Disbursing Section. During World War II, the unit participated in the Italian Campaign, and saw actions in Sicily, Naples-Foggia, Rome-Arno, North Appennies, and the Po Valley. On 12 November 1947, the unit was deactivated at Leghorn, Italy. Seven years later, on 26 November 1954, the unit was reactivated at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. During the 1960's, the 30th Finance Section activated and trained for service and was later deployed to the Republic of South Vietnam. During its 33 years of service at Fort Sill, the section was attached to several units. On 25 June 1973, the 30th was attached to the 100th Supply and Service Battalion, 214th Brigade, III Corps Artillery. On 16 April 1987, the section was reorganized as the 30th Finance Support Unit, and 12 days later, 28 April 1987, was redesignated as the 230th Finance Support Unit. On 6 October 1990, the 230th Finance Support Unit deployed to Southwest Asia in general support of the 18th Airborne Corps. On 16 October 1992, the unit was reactivated as the 230th Finance Battalion (Provisional). On 16 October 1993, the 230th Finance Battalion was activated at Fort Hood, Texas.
