215th Finance Battalion

The 215th Finance Battalion mission is to ensure financial readiness of supported units prior to deployment. Deploy and conduct force protection operations in a combat environment while providing finance support for all units located in the battalion's area of responsibility.
The 15th Finance Section was constituted on 1 November 1942 in the Army of the United States and activated 7 December 1942 at Fort Benjamin Harrison, Indiana. The section was redesignated on 22 March 1943 as the 15th Finance Disbursing Section. The section was inactivated 31 January 1947 in Germany and activated again 7 October 1950 at Fort Benning, Georgia, and allotted to the Regular Army 16 July 1952. On 10 June 1965, the unit was reorganized and redesignated as the 15th Finance Section and again on 24 May 1984 as the 15th Area Finance Support Center. The unit was reorganized and redesignated two more times as the 15th Finance Support Unit on 16 April 1987, and as the 215th Finance Support Unit on 16 October 1988. On 16 October 1992, the unit was reorganized and redesignated as the 215th Finance Battalion at Fort Hood, Texas.
