206th Engineer Battalion
The rifle and powderhorn represent the Commonwealth of Kentucky and the Kentucky Army National Guard. The rifle also refers to accuracy and military preparedness. The bridge refers to the engineer's mission and capabilities to overcome all obstacles. The cogwheel refers to mobility, mechanization, and technical expertise of the modern engineer battalion. Thirteen teeth on the wheel recall the original thirteen states of the Union and the principles and ideals that the Battalion uphold and are prepared to defend.
On Oct. 1, 2002, the 206th Engineer Battalion became the 301st Chemical Company under the command of the 206th Chemical Battalion in Richmond, KY. The unit will be responsible for the identification and decontamination of nuclear, chemical and biological agents as well as placing smoke on battlefields to mask troop movement.
