Medical Company - 1st Support Battalion

The mission of the Medical Company is to provide complete health care: Medical, Dental, Physical Therapy, Veterinary, Preventive Medicine and Medical Logistics for the Multinational Force and Observers.

The unit also provides Force Protection for the Medical Company.

The Medical Treatment Facility, located at North Camp, offers routine and emergency care to all contingents, local nationals and civilians that work here on North Camp. Each of the contingents can be serviced by: the Americans, Columbians, Fijiains, Uruaguains, or Hungarian doctors. Our services include: emergency care, x-ray, lab, pharmacy, dentistry, aviation medicine, and physical therapy. The unit also has MEDEVAC and referral services to local and regional hospitals. The Facility is manned 24 hours a day and 7 days a week, with the holding capacity of 4 patients for up to 72 hours.

The Preventative Medicine section is responsible for food hygiene, sanitation, and water quality analysis and assurance of all local and imported water supply sources. It maintains the local guidance of approved food sources through a comprehensive sanitary inspection program for more than 40 establishments in the Sinai Peninsula. It also provides Disease and Non Battle Injury trends and reports to minimize the impact of disease through timely surveillance and Preventive Medicine measures on a force wide level.

The Veterinary Clinic insures the health and welfare of the soldiers and civilians and the financial interest of the Multinational Force and Observers by providing veterinary medical support to an 11 nation, 2,700 soldier and civilian peace keeping force at 33 remote sites and 2 base camps. It is responsible for food hygiene, safety, and quality assurance of all DOD and locally procured subsistence. Publishes and maintains the local directory of approved food sources through a comprehensive sanitary inspection program of more than 60 commercial establishments in Egypt and Israel.
