1st Finance Battalion
1st Finance Battalion ensures the financial readiness of Fort Riley and its three Brigades. On order, deploy, survive, and sustain while providing DS and/or GS support to units within the 1st Finance Battalion's area of responsibility.
Process changes to soldier's pay accounts Financial inprocessing and outprocessing of all soldiers assigned to Fort Riley. Provide debt management support on amounts due to the US Government. Conduct Financial Readiness Assessment of units during SRPs. Provide financial awareness training to newly assigned unit commanders and First Sergeants. Provide courtesy visits to assist PACs/S1 on improving timeliness and processing of pay related documents. Provide Leave and Earning (LES), W2 and W4 support. Provide monthly analysis of unit performance on timeliness. Provide operational support to the Installation Tax Center. Provide disbursing operations (Check, EFT). Tactical Support Disbursing operations Pay service support to units in our Area of Responsibility Military Pay & Travel Support
The First Finance Battalion provides support to all units at Fort Riley to include the 937th Engineer Group; 1st Brigade, 1st Infantry Division (Mechanized); 3d Brigade, 1st Armored Division; and Fort Riley garrison and tenants.
Originally a Finance Company, 1st Finance braved the jungles of Vietnam in the early 1970's. The 1st Finance Support Unit was formed in 1987, going on to support the 1st Infantry Division and VII Corps in Southwest Asia during Desert Storm and Desert Shield with 380 pay missions over a 5 month period.
On October 16, 1992, the Finance Support Unit was redesignated as the 1st Finance Battalion and reorganized its subordinate elements into three detachments with separate commanders. At the same time, it became III Corps asset with a command and control relationship under the 13th Finance Group at Fort Hood.
1st Finance Battalion has supported forces in Bolivia, Panama, Croatia, and the National Training Center. Currently, the 1st Finance Battalion is on a rotational basis in supporting Joint Task Force-Bravo in Honduras. The 1st Finance Battalion provides support anywhere and anytime.
