18th Personnel Services Battalion

The 18th Personnel Services Company (Human Resources) was first constituted on 16 October 1942, in the Army of the United States as the 18th Replacement Battalion and activated on 20 October 1942, at Camp Sutton, North Carolina. The Battalion was broken up and its elements reorganized and redesignated on 15 February 1944. The unit's headquarters was reorganized and redesiganted as Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment, 18th Replacement Battalion. Companies A, B, and C, 18th Replacement Battalion were reorganized and redesignated as the 403rd, 404th and 405th Replacement Companies respectively, all of which thereafter had separate lineages. Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment, 18th Replacement Battalion was inactivated after the end of the Second World War on 23 December 1945 at Bagnoll, Italy.

The unit was redesigned on 21 September 1975, as Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment, 18th Personnel and Administration Battalion, allotted to the Regular Army and activated at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. It was redesigned Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment, 18th Personnel Services Battalion on 1 June 1993.

By 2000, the mission of the 18th Personnel Services Battalion was to provide personnel service support, postal operations, and replacement operations in support of the 29,000 soldiers assigned to the XVIII Corps non-divisional units, US Army Special Operations Command, and Fort Bragg non-Corps units.

In 1998, the 18th Soldier Support Group (Airborne) was activated from the elements of the 18th Personnel Group and the 18th Finance Group, both of which were inactivated. The 18th Personnel Services Battalion was assigned to the 18th Soldier Support Group.

In 2007, as part of the Personnel Services Delivery Redesign, the 18th Soldier Support Group was inactivated. The 18th Personnel Services Battalion was reorganized and redesignated as the 18th Personnel Services Company (Human Resources) and assigned to the Special Troops Battalion, 82nd Sustainment Brigade.
