C Company, 159th Aviation Regiment
"Flippers"

In September 1996, A Company, 2nd Battalion, 159th Aviation was reflagged as C Company, 159th Aviation. There, equipped with the CH-47 helicopter, it served as an element of the 18th Aviation Brigade, XVIII Airborne Corps. Its primary mission was to provide worldwide medium airlift capability in support of the XVIII Airborne Corps. The Company was inactivated in 2004.

In 2006, the Company was reorganized and redesignated as Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 3rd Battalion, 159th Aviation Regiment, and activated in Germany with its organic elements concurrently activated. It was reactivated as an attack reconnaissance helicopter battalion equipped with the AH-64 Apache helicopter and assigned to the 12th Combat Aviation Brigade.
