148th Brigade Support Battalion
148th Forward Support Battalion (HSB)
"Hone the Cutting Edge"
The 148th Forward Support Battalion is the only unit in the 48th Brigade that is indispensable. It is like a grocery, service station, parts supply store and truck dealer all in one. From this single unit, the 48th Infantry Brigade gets its food, medical supplies, fuel, repair parts - - even whole vehicles. It takes a lot of coordination to keep up with several thousand soldiers on the move. Support battalion transportation sections haul supplies and fuel to other Brigade units, while maintenance crews keep tank turrets turning, engines starting and radios radioing. Because, if equipment does not work right, or does not work at all, then no matter how good the soldiers are,the mission will fail.
Elements of the 148th Support Battalion deployed to Bosnia-Herzegovina for Stabilization Force (SFOR) Rotation 9 to provide support operations for Task Force Eagle (United States contingent to United Nations Operations in support of Dayton Peace Accord) from April to October 2001. While there, the unit operated from Camp Comanche, Dobol, and McGovern in Bosnia-Herzegovina.
