143rd Ordnance Battalion
The mission of the 143rd Ordnance Battalion is to continue the soldierization process and army values inculcation that produces ordnance soldiers who are motivated, physically fit, technically and tactically proficient, and prepared to take their places in the ranks of the total army.
The 143rd Ordnance Battalion was constituted on 2 December 1943 in the Army of the United states as Headquarters and Service Company, 143rd Ordnance Base Automotive Maintenance Battalion.
The battalion was activated 18 December 1943 at Flora, MS, and inactivated 20 October 1947 in Germany.
It was reactivated on 30 October 1986 as Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 143rd Ordnance Battalion, and assigned to the Regular Army. The Headquarters was concurrently transferred to the United States Training and Doctrine Command and organized at Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD.
