Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 13th Signal Battalion
"Nighthawks"

As part of the Army's transformation towards a modular force, the 13th Signal Battalion and its subordinate companies were inactivated at Fort Hood on 15 July 2005. This inactivation was part of the transformation of the 1st Cavalry Division. As part of the modular transformation, assets previously held at division level, but were habitually attached to brigades during operations were made organic to those brigades.

The largest company in the battalion, the Headquarters and Headquarters Company (HHC) was very unique. It consisted of various sections, each with its own special mission. The HHC included the Battalion Command Group, Company Headquarters, Administration and Logistics section, Operations and Intelligence section, Motor Maintenance section, Communications-Electronics Maintenance section, Medical section, and the Unit Ministry Team. Without the outstanding support of these elements, the Battalion would not have been able to function.
