E Battery, 138th Air Defense Artillery
Battery D, 1st Battalion, 216th Air Defense Artillery known as the Duck Hunters traces its heritage back to the early 1900's.
The Duck Hunters have served in numerous campaigns, and were formed in 1902. The unit served honorably during the Mexican War. While serving under General Pershing, the unit's soldiers distinguished themselves while pursuing Poncho Vila during the Mexican Expeditionary into Mexico.
The Duck Hunters were next called to action in the first World War. The unit earned as a result the World War I Silver Band without inscription.
When the Second World War started, and the unit distinguished itself in campaigns in New Guinea, Leyte, and Luzon. During these campaigns, the battery received the Army Meritorious Unit Commendation Streamer, embroidered "Pacific Theater", and its highest honor, the Philippine Presidential Unit Citation Streamer.
