105th Engineer Battalion (Combat)
"Conquer the Impossible"

The 105th Engineer Battalion (Combat) was reorganized as such on 1 September 1996 from the 2nd Battalion 252nd Armor. The Battalion's subordinate units are located in Rockingham, Laurinburg, and St Pauls.

The unit was called to provide support for "Operation Fran" on 5 September 1996, responding with over 180 volunteers.

The unit's operations have encompassed, but have not been limited to clearing roadways, providing mess support in Raleigh, providing potable water to various communities, and providing engineer support to this state's battered coast. The unit then had it's first drill on 14-15 September 1996.

During the unit's January 1998 IDT period, the unit received high marks for the engineer support it provided to the 10th Mountain Division for their participation in "Operation Purple Dragon".
