1st Battalion, 94th Armor Regiment
The 1st Squadron, 94th Cavalry Regiment's mission for 1st Brigade Combat Team, 34th Infantry Division is to perform reconnaissance and security in close operations. The 1-94th Cavalry, a Minnesota Army National Guard, is also prepared to support the state of Minnesota with a trained and ready force if called upon. The Squadron is headquartered in Duluth. As of 11 January 2011, there were 4 major units under the 1-94th Cavalry: the Squadron's Headquarters and Headquarters Troop in Duluth, Minnesota; A Troop in Hibbing and Chisholm, Minnesota; B Troop in Pine City, Minnesota; and C Troop in Duluth, Minnesota.
With the redesignation of the 1st Brigade, 34th Infantry Division into the 1st Brigade Combat Team, 34th Infantry Division, as part of the transformation to the US Army's modular force structure, the 1st Battalion, 94th Armor Regiment was converted and redesignated as the 1st Squadron, 94th Cavalry Regiment. Previously, the state mission of the 1st Battalion, 94th Armor Regiment had been to assist state and local officials in times of natural or man-made disaster. Its Federal wartime mission was to close with the enemy by means of fire and manuever to destroy them. Its Headquarters and Headquarters Company had been in Duluth, Minnesota, while A Company had been in Hibbing and Chisholm, Minnesota; B Company had been in Pine City, Minnesota; and C Company had been in Grand Rapids, Minnesota.
